On May 23, 2008 : Total attended the unveiling ceremony of the monumental sculpture Athlete Alley at the Beijing Olympic Park, as one of the corporate sponsors. The sculpture, designed by the famous Belgian sculptor Olivier Strebelle, is a masterpiece donated by the Belgian government to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympics (BOCO). The Athletes Alley sculpture is located in the western part of the Beijing Olympic Park. The abstract installation is composed of 25 tubular polished stainless steel modules. The artwork reaches up to 20 meters high and spreads over 100 meters long with five athletes bodies carrying the Olympic rings. This symbolic artwork will commemorate the Olympic Games in Chinaâ¿¿s history and friendship between people across the world.
