2004-04-29 The 65th birtday of Pieter van Vollenhoven, married to Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, has been celebrated in Scheveningen on the eve of his birthday, April 30. On that occassion a deeply moved Pieter van Vollenhoven was honoured by Prime Minister Balkende with the Grootkruis van de Nederlandse Leeuw (Grand Cross of the Dutch Lion) in the presence of members of the Dutch Royal family. At the end of a special performance of The Lion King musical, Pieter van Vollenhoven blew out the 65 candles that decorated a birthday cake.
